NEW: Two albums containing over 300 never before published photos from February and Marchجديد: اكثر من ٣٠٠ صورة لم تنشر من قبل لأحداث فبراير ومارس
——————————————————————-
Over 2,300 photos of the protests in Bahrain that started on 14th February 2011 and the subsequent brutal crackdown by Bahraini and Saudi forces. The photos are from the period Feb 14, 2011 to the summer of 2011.
As of April 14, 2012, 88 people have died, 4 of them of torture while in police custody, close to 1,000 were imprisoned at one point (plus 200 political prisoners from before February 14), tens are unaccounted for, thousands have sustained injuries or are in hospitals, brain dead and over 3,000 have lost their jobs [Bahrain Centre for Human Rights].
Bahrain has a population of 600,000 natives, which means that 1 out of every 1,000 people is currently in jail.
Photos are licensed under the creative commons license detailed below. This was what everyone agreed would be the best way to cover the expected brutal crackdown by the government starting on February 14. Many of the photos are by “Lewa’a Alnasr”, which are also licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0.
Note: Most -if not all- photos shown here are already on pro government websites so there is no point in hiding faces. If you still want a face to be hidden send us the modified photo and we will replace it.
